TCAA 2018 Fall Meeting in Houston

The Texas City Attorneys Association Fall Meeting will be held in conjunction with IMLA’s 83rd Annual Conference on Friday, October 19, at the Hilton Americas in Houston. Topics will include: (1) Service Animals; (2) ADA Facility Compliance – What to do When the Feds Come Knocking; (3) Public Information Act:  How to Effectively Intake, Process, and Respond to Requests; (4) Political Hot Topics in Land Use (Confederate Monuments, Street Naming, Affordable Housing, Etc.); (5) Recent Federal Cases of Interest to Cities; (6) Top Employment Law Challenges in the Workplace; (7) “Like” it or Not: Developing Social Media Guidelines for City Employees; (8) Legislative Forecast; (9) A Legal Perspective on City Efforts to Create Innovation-Friendly Environments for Entrepreneurs and Startups; and (10) Anti-SLAPP Suits. Attorneys can earn up to 5.5 MCLE hours, including 1 ethics hour.

2019 TCAA Summer Conference:  Call for Speakers

The Texas City Attorneys Association invites all attorneys interested in presenting at the 2019 TCAA Summer Conference at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk in San Antonio, to submit your ideas to Christy Drake-Adams at christy@tml.org by January 4, 2019.  This year’s conference will be held on June 19-21, 2019. Volunteer Opportunity

YMCA Texas Youth and Government is a civics education program that trains middle school and high school students in the functioning of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. The judicial section relies heavily on practicing attorneys and legal staff to judge delegate performances in mock trials. Riley Fletcher Basic Municipal Law Seminar

TCAA is proud to present the February 2018 Riley Fletcher Basic Municipal Law Seminar as an online course! The seminar is designed for attorneys who are new to municipal law or for those who want to brush up on the basics. For $149, you can access this seminar online at a time and place that works best for you.  Up to eight hours of CLE credit hours (including 0.75 ethics hour) are available for this course.

2018 TCAA Summer Conference

This TCAA online seminar is FREE, allowing TCAA members who are city attorneys, assistant city attorneys, or attorneys who regularly practice municipal law to view the video of this conference in a singlesession format. Viewing of the session allows attorneys to receive participatory CLE credit with the State Bar. To view available seminars, please visit www.tcaaonlineseminars.org.
